Stockport county vs Blackpool fc match review

For the first time this year Blackpool are on the losing end of a result at Edgeley Park with Stockport getting two in the second half to beat the pool after a poor showing from us which we could of won but a poor second half settled the result with no attack threat and the defence looking more nervous than myself ice-skating however the Steve Bruce’s side still remains 11th in the league one table.

The game started off quickly within Ash Fletcher starting the scoring within 7 minutes with a lovely through ball by Morgan and now becoming a signature finish as he lifts it over the goalkeeper making it 7 goals for the season with the fast starting however Stockport becoming more dominant as the half finished with Tyrer making a few good saves. However in the second half the tangerines yet again concede within the first few minutes with Olaofe bullying Casey, which has been very rare this season then playing a ball into Andersson who beats Offiah and Tyrer placing the ball into the bottom right hand corner to open his account for the county. But throughout the half the pool created enough chances to re-establish the lead with Ennis having a back post header saved after a scramble and another chance with a header yet again but only able to head it straight towards the keeper and we were punished with these missed chances with in the 81st minute Bates plays a great ball to Camps who crosses at the byline into Andersson who leaped highest over Casey and Husband again into the bottom right hand corner settling the Tangerines fate and first loss in 2025 with us looking unable to score at the other end playing into Stockports hands who remain in the play-offs in 4th.

personally, from this game the change of system worked well for the first half however the changes at half-time by Stockport confused the whole team with Offiah and Casey looking shadows of their former selves not looking solid at the back with both goals giving players either way too much time or just bullying us and letting player move into promising positions to finish off especially a new player who’s new to the country made it look to easy he’s younger than me at 19 yet im the one here typing about how poor our finishing is some times as good as Ennis is does lack the composure for long periods especially last week against Crawley had two good goals but could have had 4 with one of them being an unchallenged 1-on-1 putting it wide to make it his hat-trick but from what I saw Offiah was very poor looked out of it unable to follow runs or mark them with Stockport targeting that left hand side as CJ yet again didn’t help but cause problems would of preferred maybe Gabriel or Offiah probably Odel because when he gets going he’s unstoppable and was something we missed a but of drive as you get it a bit off Carey and Coulsen but not enough as we struggle to get into more promising areas.

Player Ratings:

Tyrer: 6.8 didn’t really have much to do all game and made a good few saves in the first half especially that long distance strike but in the second half (not just him) looked a quality below from what was shown in the first half conceding goals from poor defending both coming from that left hand side of Stockport but also their subs making a big difference.

Offiah: 6.1 Looked a shadow of his former self and he has a reason which didn’t look obvious at the time but has an ankle injury Bruce said so, that could explain why he looked very poor with the rest of the back line as both goals came from his side so, i don’t know why he wasn’t taken off to maybe prevent further problems and have a more solid defence.

Casey: 6.0 Again looked poor and got absolutely turned inside out for the first goal and maybe could of been more involved in the second but that could of been more husbands area but all locked shakey in the second half after the subs were made so, I don’t know what was said at half time but the whole team looked clueless so, again don’t really have anything positive to say.

Husband: 5.8 The worst out of the back line got bullied in the air for the second that could of been dealt with but we chose otherwise we couldn’t play any good football with only making 1/3 of his long balls shows where we are at the moment getting outclassed by Stockport’s brutes up front which isn’t Husbands strengths.

Hamilton: 5.9 another poor game again shows yet again not clue what his is doing which is weird considering he played that role all last year and still looks a fish out of water can’t actually remember what he did that game apart from clearing the ball into his own defenders and not making any runs.

Carey: 6.1 Again with the rest of the team looked very poor compared to past weeks, yeah he ran for the whole 90 but couldn’t find any way through overall can’t actually remember what he did so, can’t say anymore.

Evans: 6.5 a bit better than the rest had some good defensive moments and controlled the tempo as he usually does but looks a different player after coming back from his injury and not in a good way, again looked good in the first half but second again looked a different standard and for another week his set-pieces look awful.

Morgan: 7.8 The only positive in a poor performance played some very good passes for the Fletcher goal and setting up chances for Ennis who really should of scored and has shown the consistently all year which has been hard in such a side the cannot be very clinical or solid for large periods in a game and shows we it eventually happens when it’s not possible to get the play-offs we should by trying to keep hold of Albie and build the whole team around him.

Coulsen: 6.5 Had good burst moments and could be also at fault for the second goal with Husband leaving a man that unmarked in the box is a terrible idea especially when he’s a brute of a striker who looks good in the air so, could take the blame for that but is good a getting the team forward which we seem to struggle with a some points in games'.

Fletcher: 7.2 Got his goal with another good run and great finish over the keeper but was quiet for the rest of the game which resulted in him coming of for Silvera which didn’t make sense as Fletcher might not be the hardest worker but can have great moments for his 7th goal of the season and could be a good player for us if he could be consistent with his performances.

Ennis: 6.5 had two really good moments to score and is only the only fault in his game is his composure when it comes to the final third and could have an extra 4/5 goals in tangerine if he was; as I say again consistent he could be the only hope we have of getting that slim chance of getting play-offs now.

SUBS

Apter: 6.0 didn’t do much on the ball because we struggled to keep hold of it and in the 20 mins didn’t do much and could be at fault for how poor our defensive structure became since coming on.

Silvera: 6.0 I write the same as they both did the same as they didn’t do much on the ball because we struggled to keep hold of it and in the 20 mins didn’t do much and could be at fault for how poor our defensive structure became since coming on.

Gabriel: N/A didn’t play enough to make an impact

Beesley: N/A didn’t play enough to make an impact

Subs used: (71) Hamilton off, Apter on (71) Fletcher off, Silvera on (86) Coulsen off, Gabriel on (88) Evans off, Beesley on
